Lufthansa Cargo introduces direct, next day service from Aalsmeer

With a daily trade of 20 Million flower stems* Aalsmeer has the biggest flower auction in the world and is also known as the “Wall Street of flowers”. Lufthansa Cargo has now introduced a new service, connecting the flower auction with next day transport on it’s worldwide network to over 300 stations in more than 100 countries.

A new pickup service, especially dedicated to the transport of flowers and plants has started operating straight from Aalsmeer to Lufthansa’s hub in Frankfurt.

The service picks up shipments directly at the customer’s warehouses at the flower auction at the end of a business day (18.00-20.00) and trucks them overnight in only 8 hours to Frankfurt. This means uplift to any of many destinations in the Lufthansa network the next morning and a completely hassle free process for the flower distributors.

Fresh/td, a service for the transport of perishable goods, relies on an outstanding cooperation with the Perishable Center Frankfurt (PCF). A vacuum-cooler which is able to cool down two PMC pallets (96×125 inches) in just 30 min for perishable goods, has been established, a speedy yet gentle cooling is advantageous for the lifespan of sensitive goods. Moreover, Lufthansa Cargo has specially trained their personnel in handling and shipping temperature-sensitive and perishable goods and boasts excellently on time performance and highest quality of goods on arrival.
