It’s just about two weeks ago that we exclusively reported on Olivier Bijaoui’s return to the air cargo scene after a respite of two years. Almost nobody in the ground handling circles
expected Olivier to remain out-of-sight.
Now, today (16 October) he dropped a further bombshell with the notification of his new set-up in the United States.
Transborder Aviation Holdings
The above is the name made public today in Toronto at the TIACA conference to the new company which Olivier Bijaoui and Simon Caviezel have established as a new ground handling entity for the
Bijaoui and Caviezel, two of the most influential and successful leaders in air cargo ground services have established Transborder Aviation Holdings, which will form a network for handling air
cargo and all related services in the Americas.
Olivier Bijaoui, former Chairman of Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) and Simon Caviezel, co-founder and former co-Chairman of Cargo Airport Services (CAS) will be co-chairmen of the new company.
Transborder Aviation, owned by both co-chairmen, will be the holding company for the new ground handling network.
Airlines are looking for quality mid-size handlers
The new owners state that the driving force behind the company is a focus on quality, network and service.
“Today’s air cargo market demands leading-edge service offerings allowing airlines to remain competitive in a logistics world where transparency, speed and quality will be fundamental demands
from the market,” stated Olivier Bijaoui.
He went on to say that “the market is asking for mid-size quality providers, with network service, at a time when new challenges and opportunities are emerging. With this new company we will
drive service quality and expand the network throughout the Americas, serving airlines looking to offer top-class handling for their customers.”
Co-Chairman Simon Caviezel stated that: “ground handling services need to adapt to the new challenges of eCommerce, while air cargo verticals such as pharmaceuticals, aerospace and automotive
demand a new approach, and a new way of serving the global airline customer base. Transborder Aviation will ensure airlines receive the best handling across all their product lines.
Bijaoui recently became co-owner along with Claudine Bonthoux of Paris CDG-based France Cargo Handling (FCH), which has twelve locations in France and offers full cargo handling and trucking
services within France and Europe. He has also invested in Belgium Airport Services (BAS) in Liege.
The new Transborder Aviation holding company will be based in Sunrise Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and operations on both sides of the Atlantic will integrate into a global network. Discussions
concerning the opening of the first station in the Americas are ongoing Mr Bijaoui tells us.
Keep moving forward
Olivier Bijaoui has never been known as one who sits still for any length of time. When he departed Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) in mid-2016, he had managed within those 34 years to build the
company into one of, if not at that time, the largest worldwide ground handling entity.
Therefore, no reason why he should not be successful again in the Americas along with Simon Caviezel and his new team
We wonder how those attending the TIACA conference today will react on this new development!
