Riege Software is on the alert to safeguard its customers’ businesses

For companies it is a horror scenario: added to the risk of their employees falling ill, is the danger of IT system problems. A double shock that could bring business processes to a
standstill. This makes it even more important that at least IT functionality is guaranteed.

At Riege Software, they are not clairvoyants. However, the company’s management considered very early on what the plan would be in case its Scope system is disrupted, impeding its clients’
continued data exchange, and causing a near breakdown of operational processes. The first step was to set up an emergency plan under the responsibility of a coordinator, dealing with alerts
should they occur.
The name of the game was, and still is, to react as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to immediately solve any potential Scope disruptions. What complicates the process is the current
spread of Covid-19, which has led to the necessity of (often challenging) home office to safeguard employees’ health. Riege staff were also sent home to carry out their jobs from there until
further notice.
This happened on March 18th.

From real to virtual company
Since then, staff is on standby and grouped in different shifts, guaranteeing customers 24/7 accessibility in order to resolve technical hiccups as quickly as possible. “Should an issue
escalate, our specialists are alerted immediately to jointly fix the issue,”
states Head of Communications and Marketing, Benjamin Riege.
He goes on to say that his company can be transformed into a purely virtual body at any time. Cooperation and the allocation of tasks takes place via electronic communication. Shift work,
including substitution arrangements, has been set up for those functions required to resolve any issue.
In contrast to these emergency procedures, the company’s data centers do not need to be taken care of, physically. This is only required in the case of hardware renewal or capacity adjustments,
which happen once a year on average.

Easy and secure Scope access via private PC
However, “we cannot rule out possible disruptions caused by third parties, nor can we influence them, but our customers are assured that we are extremely well prepared should there be any
unexpected technical issues with our Scope system,”
Mr. Riege states.
Further to this, the manager points out that Scope is a cloud-based system, enabling uninterrupted user access from any location.
All it needs is a PC connected to the world wide web. If required, Riege experts navigate users through this task. The company emphasizes that security problems will not occur due to Scope
system’s strong encryption, URL filters, and the existing Intrusion Protection System.
A second option is accessing Scope via a Virtual Private Network (VPN), provided the infrastructure is in place. All this requires is the download and installation of Scope Runtime.
In case assistance is needed, Riege Software experts are available to take care of the setup and to guide customers through any issues, enabling employees to do their jobs at home during the
coronavirus crisis.
