Anastasia is Riege’s new voice

The enormous influence that the working atmosphere within companies has on employee satisfaction and the staff’s commitment is voiced by Anastasia Kazantzis. The former flight attendant
joined the logistics software provider, Riege Software, at the beginning of January, where she heads the Public Relations department. She has never once regretted this step. Quite the contrary,
she says.

CFG spoke with her about her motivation to work for Riege and her initial experiences.

CFG: You worked as a flight attendant for 10 years, then you changed your job and joined Riege Software. Why this switch?
A.K.: After finishing my course of studies in Anglophone Studies and Spanish Language and Culture in 2009, I was eager to pursue a career as a copywriter. However, it was not
easy to get a firm grip on the labor market in the middle of an economic crisis. So, I decided to focus on a different career path and travel the world working as a flight attendant. I never gave
up writing, though. Indeed, I have worked as a freelance writer throughout the past ten years. In 2020, I was looking for new assignments as a freelance copywriter and stumbled across the Riege
Software job posting rather by chance. The wording, the unique corporate design patterns, and the overall human approach, both in the listing and on the website, were really persuasive and
inviting. The very next day, I handed in my application and after two rounds of interviews and an introduction to the marketing team where I was met with a great deal of friendliness, interest,
and heart, I was convinced of Riege as an employer.

CFG: Riege has many airline customers. Are there any synergies between your previous activities and your current tasks?
A.K.: In terms of customer relations and team structure, definitely. A friendly approach towards business partners, team members, and the press on an international level, with
due respect to and a profound understanding of their requirements is very helpful. And, of course, a basic understanding of flight operations and ground handling, to which I acquainted by working
in the airline industry for so many years, is beneficial to my current position in a software company for airfreight, ocean freight, and customs handling. The whole onboarding process and
understanding the capabilities of a transport management software is easier if you already have a profound knowledge of air and ground operations and the documentation process. My unique trait in
this position, though, is the view beyond the rim of the teacup of software development or freight forwarding.

CFG: Riege’s name is well known in the air freight industry. Where do you see potential for optimization to push the company further up front and make its digital product offerings known
to an even broader community?

A.K.: Right now, Riege focuses on participating in international alliances and networking groups to spread the idea of data sharing combined in one system. We are actively taking
part in several working groups, such as IATA’s ONE Record initiative, for instance. Overall, we believe in unrestricted cooperation within the global supply chain to promote the industry, to help
our business partners grow, and to push forward digitalization in logistics by creating a standardized model for data sets. Sharing data and creating synergies within systems which are accessible
to everyone within the supply chain, in our opinion, is the next step into a digital future. Our transport management software Scope, the Digital Standard for freight forwarding, customs, and
handling, is already based on a “one file” concept, where data is entered only once and stored in a single database.

CFG: Please illustrate where Riege still has room for improvements in terms of market penetration.
A.K.: Since Riege is penetrating different markets in several regions, such as South America, the U.S., and Hong Kong, which all have different local requirements and therefore
require customized adjustments to the system, we do see room for improvement in this area. Viewed from the logistics perspective, each of these markets has its own cultural, regulatory, and
language requirements, which we try to cover through local expertise.

CFG: Finally, what are your most important impressions and experiences gained as member of the Riege team since the beginning of this year?
A.K.: Riege Software is a unique company in the logistics world. Although it is a specialist in the digital sphere, people are always in focus. Networking and creating
long-lasting partnerships is one of Riege’s core principles. Furthermore, corporate values are not just posted on walls, but are actually practiced in everyday life, which is why I am very happy
about my decision to embark on a new career path together with Riege. The company is not looking for perfect applicants with classic resumes and a straightforward career path. Career changers and
newcomers are always welcome. What really counts is the willingness to learn new things, to grow with the company, to show commitment, and to have fun at work, which very much reflects my own
beliefs and working habits.
