Cargo City opens at Budapest Airport: a ‘real game-changer’ for air freight

Budapest Airport (BUD) is hoping to lure air freight volumes from rival airports and reduce trucking into Eastern Europe with the opening of its Cargo City yesterday.
The €50m ($55.3m) facility includes an 11,200sq metre forwarder building and 21,600sq metres of warehousing space, alongside a 32,000sq metre cargo apron, capable of serving two 747 freighters simultaneously.
Phase 1 gives Cargo City capacity of 250,000 tonnes a year.
