cargo.one grows its client base

The sky is literally the limit for freight booking portal cargo.one. Proven by the increasing number of airlines that have signed an agreement with the Berlin, Germany-based agent that
enables forwarders to digitally book their shipments on board a flight fitting their needs, at a given, real-time rate. So far, 15 carriers have joined – among them, heavyweights such as
Lufthansa Cargo, Etihad, Air Canada, AirBridgeCargo, or Nippon Cargo Airlines, to name but a few. Now, the next airline has decided to join the bandwagon: Saudia Cargo.

Both companies have entered into a distribution agreement to provide customers with superior digital booking services, reads a joint release. The phrase describes a typical win-win situation,
benefitting both: Saudia improves its load factor by upping freight volumes, while cargo.one gets a commission for its digital service and grows its attractiveness for the market by offering
customers Saudia’s entire network on which to book their consignments.

The number of forwarders making use of cargo.one’s booking options has tripled last year, says company spokesperson Laura Weritz - picture hs/CFG

More booking options
So far, 350 destinations located in 122 countries are available for the electronic booking of freight, says spokesperson Laura Weritz. Once Saudia’s and cargo.one’s electronic portals are
interconnected, which will happen in May says Ms. Weritz, customers are offered freight transports on board the Arabian carrier’s fleet to roughly 40 additional airports. Currently, just in
Europe, more than 2,000 freight forwarders branches are partnered with cargo.one, making use of the portal’s electronic booking options. And the number keeps on growing, she confirms.

Ensuring a “first-class booking experience”
Thanks to the agreement reached with Saudi Arabian freight carrier, cargo.one can expand its footprint in the Gulf region, thus strengthening its global market position. This is emphasized by
Moritz Claussen, Founder and Managing Director of cargo.one:

“We look forward to working in close collaboration with Saudia Cargo and its general sales agents around the world to jointly ensure that customers will always enjoy a first-class booking
experience.”
The manager goes on to say: “Saudia Cargo is a prime example of an airline that leverages and augments its existing systems to take a leap into the future of capacity
distribution and pricing.”

Once the electronic systems of both partners are interconnected, forwarders can initially book standard shipments (general cargo). “Other products, such as pharmaceuticals or express goods,
will be activated in the summer or fall at the latest,”
says Laura Weritz

The pact is part of Saudi’s ‘Vision 2030’
“We are convinced that cargo.one is the ideal partner to perfect our digital service offer,” Omar Hariri, Chief Executive Officer of Saudia Cargo, stated upon the signing of the pact.
“Saudia Cargo’s objective is to always deliver a premium customer experience.”

His airline is rapidly growing its fleet, pushing the digital transformation forward in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to develop the country into a leading logistics hub in the Middle
East, increasingly rivaling Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, and siphoning traffic and business away from its neighboring competitors. “We will be offering customers a proven and efficient
online booking platform where they have access to real-time rates and immediate booking confirmations,”
Mr. Hariri concludes. The pact with cargo.one might be seen as an important mosaic
stone in the Kingdom’s aim to become a logistics heavyweight.
