There is much going on over at DACHSER, so perhaps Marga Montero’s photo shot in Valencia recently and posted to LinkedIn really does show a pot of gold at the end of the
rainbow?

It has proven its heart of gold recently, with DACHSER Tunisia having donated 1,000 gowns and 1,000 protective suits to the Ministry of Health for distribution to Tunisian hospitals in the fight
against COVID-19. Whilst earlier this month, DACHSER launched its 30th charter flight since the start of the coronavirus crisis at the end of FEB20. It has so far transported over 60 million
respiratory masks and other PPE, in a number of firsts for the company: for example, 8 charter flights within the space of just 1 week at the end of April, 3 of which were on a HKG-LAX route,
using American Airlines’ passenger 777s.
 Head of Global Air Freight at DACHSER, Timo Stroh, said of the charters:  “This has become an important business in an otherwise very difficult market for DACHSER Air & Sea
Logistics, but at the same time, there is a sense of motivation and satisfaction that we’re doing something relevant and helpful for society while further establishing the DACHSER brand on the
air freight market.”

Investing in Eastern Germany
Meanwhile, over in the Erfurt suburb of Arnstadt, Germany, the company symbolically heralded the start of building work on 10MAY20, at a small “ground-breaking” ceremony. DACHSER is investing in
a new 20,000 m² warehouse with office space, a waiting zone, and parking spaces for trucks.
Dr. Rimbert J. Kelber, General Manager of DACHSER’s Erfurt logistics center, explained: “We’ve been working here in Erfurt for many years in structures that have been built up across multiple
sites. We are consolidating them into this new warehouse so that we can offer our customers contract logistics services – in other words, storage, and value-added services – all from a single
source at a state-of-the-art location. This enables us to tap into opportunities for further growth in the region, as we want to get things going again once the coronavirus crisis is
past.”
The facility is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2021, and combined with the existing warehouse, DACHSER will have 20,300 pallet spaces and 8,500 m² of block stacking space in
which to handle cargo from customers in the consumer goods sector.
DACHSER has been present at the Thuringian location since 2004 offering logistics services to the industry.
