Exclusive: Sovereign Speed partners data broker logistics.cloud

Through their strategic pact, the two players now offer Sovereign Speed’s customers digital, cloud-based data exchange on a neutral basis. This allows all participants in a supply chain
to transfer and use shipment data in real time whenever needed, regardless of which of the many existing data management system they use in everyday business practice.

Since its inception in 2018, more than 1.5 million shipments to well over 100 countries have already been processed via logistics.cloud GmbH’s electronic platform. “However, we, as a company,
have not physically transported a single kilogram that has passed through our system,
” Niko Hossein, CEO of South Germany-based logistics.cloud GmbH, reasons.

Closing a gap
Understandably, because logistics.cloud is a data integrator, no more, no less. Shining examples of functioning data integration are FedEx, DHL, or UPS, with their booking and tracking platforms
providing end-to-end transparency and traceability for all processing activities.
logistics.cloud’s platform fills a gap that should have initially been closed by IATA. However, the airline pressure group failed to develop an industry-wide tool to provide end-to-end
visibility.
Given IATA’s lack of initiative, grassroots movements jumped in and started developing workable solutions for the industry to close the missing data exchange link in air freight. One of these
innovators is logistics.cloud, which began dreaming big and making its vision of an integrated digital tool for the industry happen, enabling limitless collaborative efforts on bigger scale.

Successful start
Through the cooperation with Sovereign Speed, which runs own cargo handling stations in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne, and other locations, the IT platform now gets an additional push. “We
started our cooperation 2 weeks ago and, since then, we have already connected 4 of our forwarding customers to the data platform,
” Hendrik Bender, Head of Group Business & Marketing at
Sovereign Speed, proudly reports.
It does not matter which systems Sovereign’s customers use: After a one-time connection effort, the data from the various programs is merged in logistics.cloud’s front end. In addition to
shipment specifications, documents and unloading notifications are also available, which can be expanded to include telematics data, ETA calculations, and temperature monitoring.

Mr. Bender goes on to say: “This not only makes processes easier and highly transparent for Sovereign customers, but also reduces costs and brings down the error rate of manual
processes.

Sovereign pays a flat rate for the data transmissions, the amount of which also depends on how many of Sovereign’s customers jump on board to have their data managed by logistics.cloud.

Neutral electronic channel
With its scalable solution, logistics.cloud enables the industry to terminate the fragmentation of global supply chains, and provides more planning and visibility in multimodal air and road
transportation. According to its own service portfolio, it offers customers high connectivity, resilient and reliable data, tailored solutions with numerous add-ons, and a continuously growing
partner network.
The company’s vision is to seamlessly connect the highly fragmented IT and data providers in logistics, Niko Hossain, CEO & MD of logistics.cloud, emphasizes: “In close collaboration with
Sovereign Speed, we connect the existing data formats and systems of all participants in the transport chain for automated electronic data exchange. Thanks to our cloud-based IT platform, only
one connection is required, which we provide to enable users digital communication with all logistics service providers and customers via a neutral channel.

The manager assures firms jumping on the bandwagon of reduced operational costs, a higher transparency level of transport processes, and increased service levels in air freight handling and
shipping. “We are extremely excited to take digitalization to the next level with Sovereign and its partners,” the executive concludes.
