Hellmann adds France to its global network

Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has opened its first station in France, located near Paris CDG airport. It closes a gap, complementing the existing network. More offices in France are to
come, announces Jens Tarnowski, CEO Region Europe Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

The step to establish a Hellmann office in Villepinte, close to Charles de Gaulle Airport follows the decision by French transport company Heppner, to terminate the longtime cooperation in air
and ocean freight with Hellmann. Their step comes after Heppner and Austrian forwarding agent Gebrueder Weiss signed a partnership agreement to jointly develop their air and sea freight
businesses.  Not affected by the split are trucking services between France and Germany where Hellmann and Heppner continue their collaboration.

Customer demand for seamless services was a key driver
Hellmann’s focus in France will be on serving existing multinational companies who are already working with the agent in other parts of the world. Mr Tarnowski says that many of them have
expressed the desire to be serviced by Hellmann in France as well, for benefitting from seamless and tailored treatment of their goods along the entire supply chain. “In addition, we’ll also
target local small and medium-sized companies to penetrate the French market and broaden our local business,” he states.
As the CDG office has been kicked off, becoming responsible for both air and ocean freight activities, the next targets have already been put on the agenda: running stations in the port cities
Marseille and Le Havre. “There, we still cooperate with local handling agents, but this will change once we have established own stations.”

Smooth connection
“Establishing our own Hellmann network in France is an important building block in our global and European growth strategy, especially considering our ongoing expansion of the hub / gateway
systems in our LCL product segment (Less than Container Load),” states Reiner Heiken, CEO Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
His colleague Tarnowski speaks of an enormous potential in France. “With our own station in one of Europe’s logistics hotspots we can now connect major customers, who are already served by
special Hellmann teams across the globe smoothly with our worldwide network,” adds Mr Tarnowski.
Asked about the critical timing of the expansion, given the fact that the current markets are flat, the manager’s reaction sounds very logical: “If you currently don’t have a market you can only
win.”
